Building and Construction
Planning, design construction and commissioning of privately owned freestanding day surgeries and medical suites is a highly specialized area of building. Errors in design can translate to huge costs in the rectification of the issue at a functional level.
Building standards vary in each state of Australia. Interpreting these standards and working within them to achieve your design can involve complex issues. Finding a satisfactory solution from a construction perspective does not always achieve a workable solution from a clinical perspective.
KGA Consultants have significant experience in this specialized area of construction. Coupled with an intimate understanding of the requirements of clinicians we can work with the team to cut through the jargon to help you understand the process and make informed decisions about your project at every stage. Our knowledge and foresight has never failed to save our principals thousands of dollars in construction errors both during the project and in the planning phase by careful attention to detail in the specifications and contracts.
Please take a moment to peruse the quality of work completed by Vavayis Architects who have partnered with us to complete these projects. Vavayis Architects are Australias leading day surgery dental - medical suite architects. Here you will see how experience can achieve both functionality of design coupled with pleasing aesthetic qualities the hallmark of their work.

Full Accreditation Service - One day a month visits for 12 month. Kim will visit your practice for an initial visit of two days where you can both make a decision if you would like to move forward. There is no requirement to continue if you are not satisfied with the service.
This is suitable for facilities who wish to change from another model of accreditation to IS09000.

Contracting with Health Funds & Suppliers
Contracts are legal documents. They contain lots of jargon and whilst seemingly innocent may have a serious impact on your facility or practice.
Over the years we have reviewed hundreds of these each year from both suppliers of services as well as health insurers. Many of these documents land on the desk of the DON or clinicians who are expected to read and understand the consequences without any formal education in any aspect of contract law.
Contracting with health insurers is a highly specialized skill. The process in itself is not difficult however the consequences can impact on the financial viability of the facility.
At KGA we spent years developing long term relationships of trust with health insurers and this has proven to be beneficial to all involved in the negotiation process. Understanding your practice and the health fund process makes life so much more pleasant.
Please dont not sign anything you do not understand! Read everything twice. Make sure every contract includes the right for both parties to terminate the contract should either party desire to do so. This should be in writing. Pay attention to warranties and special conditions that have been included in contracts and finally if it does not apply to your practice or facility have the item removed from the contract.
Make your first call to us and the second to experienced health care lawyers such as the team at Tress Cocks Maddox. TCM specialize in all aspects of the law as it applies to your practice. They have supported the private health industry for many years. With personal injury claims and the fear of action for negligence looming over the head of every practitioner today its comforting to have the support of the team at TCM who stand on their integrity and have stood the test of time.
Here are details of a contract education session given by TCM at a Day Surgery Seminar I convened in Sydney a few years ago.
